Life is not easy for me in the past few weeks, especially at work. I have to fly to the other side of the country for like, every week. The place I visit most is Kuala Terengganu, which is the place I currently am at this very moment. It is great for me to have this opportunity to visit different places. But trust me, you would not feel the same again when you have to travel to one same place over and over again, seeing things you saw last time and feeling frustrated when they still never fix the thing you ask them to do during your last visit. Until Tuesday two weeks ago, which is the very last visit we had, Lalitha (my boss) said: "That's enough, I want it to be completely done (which is perfectly ready for the JKRHQ to come and have their audit) by the next visit. Wilson, I want you to make sure it's done." This burden that she gave me is quite heavy but I'm quite sure I can do it. Today, is the day I came from KL to KT, to make sure this really happen. My position here is a site supervisor. My job is to find out whatever that are not correct, point it to them (the installer), and get them to rectify the thing. For this reason, I have to climb up and down (which is forbidden by BLM), call their supervisor to send over the tools and checking through the trusses to find anything that are not right. After working for a long day, the progress at site does not even reach half, which is my target. I've been keep discovering new issues which is the main reason why I am way behind my schedule.
Speaking of the rectification works, there was a place where the anchor bolt cannot be install because of the concrete roof tiles were blocking the way. So I asked the installers to remove the roof tile to enable them to install it. When they put it back after the job is completed, there was a small rock slides through the roof and fall down. (I forgot to mention in the early part, this site is a new 3 floor heights block of a school. Little boys and girls were wandering around in the school yard because it's during their recess time) I could clearly hear the sound of the rock sliding through the roof tiles and shattered when it hits the ground. First thing that came into my mind was: Did the rock hit any one? My heart started to beat fast and my mind went completely blank. The only sound that I could hear was my own voice. What am I going to do if the rock really hit any of the pupils? It is definitely my fault if any one got hurt because I am the one who told the installers to open the roof tile. LUCKILY, the rock actually didn't hit anyone, including cars. What a great relief when I actually saw those little boys and girls were still running around, as if nothing happened before. Phew, that was a close one. This is too much for me, especially my heart. I can easily get a heart attack if this happened again. At around 4.30, those installers said they usually stops at around that time. So those works have to be continued tomorrow. It's been a tiring day but it worth it if I manage to get this site to be passed on JKRHQ audit. Hope that the site can be ready by tomorrow by 3pm because my flight to KL is at 4pm. I don't want to delay my flight and stay here for another night.
Date: 6th April 2011 Working hour: 9am-3pm (6hours)
Objective: To make sure the site is perfectly done
Hypothesis: Nothing goes wrong especially zero accident (Ti Gong Bo Bi)
Discussion: Hope that I can make it on time. Really don't want to miss the flight
Conclusion: To complete the objective and prove the hypothesis
